Kel Tec P11

Just picked one up at a gun show for $270, neat little pistol, 10 shot double stack mag, double action only, with decent ergonomics. Doesn't seem to be possible to release the slide via button without moving the slide back a little first, but I guess thats ok. Since its DAO it'll probably take a lot of getting used to the trigger pull, but for something with such a short barrel, I doubt I'll pull off anything close to 'accuracy' with it :bull-buddy-icon: I guess it'll be good for bad-breath distance :tongue_ma:

Anyone know if its ok to use +P ammo in it? I picked up some Cor-Bon 125gr +P hollowpoints and loaded it up.

I have 2 Kel Tec P11's. They are rated for +P ammo. I'm not sure why, but what looks like a slide stop/slide release is only a slide stop. There is nothing wrong with your particular pistol, that is the way they are designed to operate. You are supposed to release the slide by pulling it back and releasing. The only bad thing about P11's in my opinion is the really long heavy trigger pull. You have to practice with them quite a bit to be able to hit anything and if you go a long time without shooting it, your performance will suffer much more than it would with any other pistol. At least that has been my experience with the P11. They are handy for CCW however. I switched to the new PF9 recently for my CCW because of it's slimmer profile and MUCH better trigger pull. If you take the time to master the P11 though, it will serve you well for a CCW. One good thing about P11's is that if you get to be a good shot with a P11, you will be pretty good with any pistol you touch after that. P11's are tough to shoot well.

Nothing wrong with these, but the PF-9 has a much better trigger geometry.

So, what color did you get?

I got the regular black one, I saw a PF-9 there too but the single stack mag made me have second thoughts. I like the 3 more shots with this one :bull-buddy-icon: Accuracy is great, but not at the expensive of ammo capacity. Kind of the quintessential catch 22 with firearms I guess though. How about someone makes something light, accurate, small, with a high magazine capacity? :tongue_ma:

12 round mags are also available now for the P11. Get a couple before Hillary takes office. Also, the standard 10 round mags have legs on the followers. If you simply cut the legs of the standard mag followers and sand the bottom smooth, they will hold 11 and still function perfectly. At least that has been my experience.

Ditto. I just took my 10 rounders and cut a bit off the bottom of the follower, 11 round. I could take more off and get 12 but the function seems like it could suffer.

If I were doing it over I'd probably buy a Skyy CP11 in stainless instead of the P11... honestly I probably wouldn't get either one at this point. I'd rather have my p3at and S&W 642 airweight. my p11 hasn't been touched in my safe for almost a year... It's too big for pocket carry (BUG use) and too small for primary carry.

FWIW when it warms up and I start using my 5.11 vest I will shove that in the inside holster pocket because it fits perfectly... I hardly ever wear the vest except when I bike ride.
